“It’s easy to benchmark progress by pointing to the biggest organization or the wealthiest person or the most popular trend. But progress doesn’t always involve getting bigger. While growth—whether personal or organizational—can be a positive sign that we’re moving in the right direction, in the long run, progress is about being whatever we need to be in order to make a bigger difference. At times that requires getting smaller in certain areas in order to grow well on the whole. As we focus on our individual growth and the growth of our companies, let’s make sure we know the difference between getting bigger and getting better. They are not always the same thing.” – Dan T. Cathy
